Rain Which Spoiled Everything

1:45 P.M, 14 October 2010

Sky in Bangalore looks fine. No sign of rain, clouds- moderate, humidity negligible and temperature pleasant. After reading these two lines everyone will think that I am going to elaborate the pleasant weather in Bangalore but who knows that I will be leading you to the worst rainfall recorded in Bangalore(230mm).

5 Mins Later

Clouds became black and the weather started showing symptoms of rain. Drizzling begins and the weather gets windy. It starts raining, people rush to their balconies to remove the clothes and children playing downstairs start looking for shelter below trees and slides. Water coming from the rooftops looked like mini waterfalls. Due to the humongous force of water, small streams of water were formed on the bare ground next to my appartment. On the road - pedestrians coming from shops and buildings used polybags to protect themselves from the heavy rains.

Impact

All the plants in my sight were destroyed by the rain. Probably all the crops grown in the area might have got spoiled by the excessive rainfall. The biggest impact was the ruined houses which lay on mud and the people living in might have suffered a lot. The rain has caused a lot of trouble for many and good for some dying for water.

English - The Global Langauge

In a country like India people speak over 20 languages. It is very difficult to be fluent in all the languages. People have to choose a language which will be known and fluent to all. Not only in India but in many other countries this is the problem.

Living in a metropolis city I myself experience the significance of English in our everyday lives. From a peon to a chairmen almost everyone uses English to communicate though some of them might not be so fluent in the language. Your command over English signifies your vocabulary of English (obvious), your concentration level and your thinking abilities. Many countries like U.S.A, England, Australia etc have chosen English as their national language . Over the years English has spread all over the world, more and more people are becoming fluent in this language and the significance of English is increasing day by day. Many people in India wish to become fluent in English and use many ways to do so , some of them are following :-
  1. Joining English speaking classes.
  2. Talking in English to their children and family members.
  3. Writing articles and essays for a good vocabulary.
  4. Learning new words in English everyday.

Have you ever noticed that when you leave your house for school/office/ for doing shopping and till you come back you mostly communicate with teachers and friends, employers and shopkeepers respectively in English (This statement is only applied for developed cities or countries). Thus English can be recognized as the Global Language.

RoboKill - A Game Review

I play games to entertain myself. I discovered RoboKill when I went to my friends house to return his notebook and saw him playing RoboKill on miniclip.com. I asked him about the game and he enthusiastically replied that it is a very adventurous and violent game. He knew that I liked violent games and asked me to try it out.

Robokill is about a Robot which has been sent from a starship to a battle station controlled by droids or enemy robots. The commander of the star ship has ordered the Robot to destroy all the communication centers of the battle ship. The Robot is loaded with lot many shields and destructive weapons. The battle ship has been divided into many rooms. Some of the rooms have teleport machine which can take the robot to any other room. Destroyers are your biggest enemies, they are loaded with shields and guard the headquarters of the battleship. If you beat them then you get their shields. Some of the droids are reproductive which keep on giving droids out of them. There is a inventory, a map of the battle ship and a shop to buy new weapons for your robot.

The ship has been overrun by hostile robots and you are their only hope! Eliminate the enemies; remember to upgrade your weapons and armor.

" Growing Plants "- Not an easy job.

People think that growing plants on a particular piece of land is an easy task for the farmers but actually it is not. I challenge you to earn some money by growing vegetables and flowers in your house, this can be your summer assignment. Think 'bout it, you will have to spend a lot of money on seeds and different investments for different requirements of the plant. The profit might be little or negligible. Taking a risk on a small piece of land is not an issue but on a large scale -thats something, specially for the poor farmers who don't have a default job or earnings.

I have tried this and experienced the result. I had a craze of growing plants in my house since I was young, though my family doesn't have such an Eco- friendly background. I took a challenge of growing coriander (these kind of vegetables are easy to grow) . I was very irritated because the plants hadn't started growing from past one week, although coriander is one of the most fast growing plants among the vegetables. I almost lost hope but finally after sometime time I could see the sprouts coming out of the soil, popping like smiles out of the ground and then all of them started growing tall. I have put a picture showing the plants after 2 weeks - "patience paid off".

Growing plants can be a profitable job if done with dedication, knowledge and human coordination.

When yours, Insult You

From the beginning I have been a low tempered guy. Getting frustrated when some members of my family or my friends insult me in front of their friends was unusually common. The fact is things always can't go the way you like and the things always can't go the way others like. Nowadays kids are different, they insult their own family members in front of their friends just to gain reputation in their friend circle or to follow the conditions of their friends circle. At that point the kid loses his control over the mind and forgets everything which will do some damage to the families reputation. He/she just gets under the control of the leader of the friend circle and follows their instruction.

These days suicides are increasing at a alarming rate . Reasons behind these suicides can be - kids not able to adjust themselves in the environment, bullying with a kid just exposed to a new environment and a kid not able to follow the conditions of his friend circle. Parents should personally ask their kids about their problems with the friend circle or environment. If a kid is not able to tell you about his problems just leave him alone and tell him to write his problems because as you know writing is one of the best ways to express yourself. Insulting a kid badly or insulting along with a group can also lead to suicides.

Best friends are not the one who let you play with their cool play-stations, they are not the one who give you money to buy junk food and let you stay for sleep overs. Best friends always are the one who help you and share there hapiness with you.

Book Review -Do Hard Things: A Teenage Rebellion Against Low Expectations

I read "Do Hard Things: A Teenage Rebellion Against Low Expectations" last week. It was a very good book written by Twin authors Alex and Brett Harris. I'd like if every teenager reads this book, but I'm just as eager for every parent, church leader, and educator to read it. This book has very strong impact and by reading this book a kid's life can change.

The book Do Hard Things is about doing the following:-
  • Things which are outside your comfort zone.
  • Things that go beyond what is expected or required.
  • Things that are to big to accomplish alone.
  • Things that don't earn an immediate payoff.
  • Things that challenge the cultural norm.
If you can do one of these things you can be one of the Einsteins. I bet Do Hard Things is going to awaken the dreams and passions of thousands of young people all over the world. In a culture where laziness and ease is often the order of the day for teenagers, Do Hard Things presents a radical and provocative alternative. If you take my opinion, this book can be the book of the decade.

e-book's

e-book or a digital book is a electronic book which can be read on a iLiad, iPad, kindle etc. Among the earliest general e-books were those in the Gutenberg Project, started by Michael S. Hart in 1971. Early e-books were generally written for specialty areas and a limited audience, meant to be read only by small and devoted interest groups.

Many software companies have started making their own e-books or an e-book from a small level author. On the other hand some companies are making devices to read e-books such as iPad and iLiad. On the first day of launch of iPad more than 1000 e-books were added to the iLibrary.

As of 2009, new marketing models for e-books were being developed and dedicated reading hardware was produced. E-books have yet to achieve global distribution. e-book is going to be the future for education. May be, by 2020 most of the students in developed countries will be having one of the gadgets used to read e-books.

Apple for their iPad and amazon for their kindle will be having a tough competition in the future for the sales of their gadgets for e-books.

iPad - A revolutionary gadget

The iPad is a tablet computer developed by Apple Inc, Announced on January 27, 2010, it is part of a category between a smartphone and a laptop computer. iPad was launched on April 3rd all over the world. It is a revolutionary gadget because of the following reasons- it is multitouch, size is as big as the keyboard of a laptop, you can read ebook in iPad and it is very cheap.

iPad was made by Apple mostly to enhance reading skills and gaming world. The new software added in iPad is the iLibrary. iLibrary is just a collection of ebooks which are added with voice and mini dictionary. I think Apple launched iPad just to give a base for iLibrary.

iPad is adored with digital compass, liquid crystal display, rotation of any angle, Wi-Fi network trilateration to locate itself in Google Maps and A-Gps. iPad is very light weight which makes it easy to carry. Its body is very slim and the screen is perfect for an ebook.

Yair Reiner said the iPad will compete against e-book devices such as the Barnes and Noble nook and the Amazon Kindle while offering 70% of revenue to publishers, the same arrangement afforded developers on the Apple App Store. Apple claims that iPad is capable of providing video for 10 hours and audio for 140 hours and so more....

Right To Education

Very recently Indian government had passed the Education Bill. It will determine that each and every kid of age between 4-16 should get guaranteed education. Kapil Sibal got the idea of this Bill and finally got it approved by the members of Parliament. In a country like India where the population is more than a billion, the ratio of literacy to illiteracy is 3:7. The country is one of the developing and populated countries.

Illiterate kids in India of age varying from 10-14 find their works as labors and thieves. In last 5 years government had tried many ways to decease the number of illiterate people in India. Some of them had worked also example - government schools which provide free food and education to the students and vidhya organization.

Education bill is a revolutionary bill because in a country like India where the number of illiterate kids is more than 20 million and making a promise to the public that each and every kid in India will get education is a really big deal.
So help the government to help the kids of India.

Book Review - Crocodile Tears

The book "Crocodile Tears" is the 8th book of Alex Rider Series by the famous British author for teenagers Anthony Horowitz. Anthony is world's best author for teenage books. His famous books like Alex Rider Series and The Power Of Five are one of the best books in the world. He lives in Manchester , U.K.

Alex Rider Series is about a 14 year old kid named Alex Rider who is drawn from his school by a special agency of U.K named MI6. His parents were killed in one accident when he was only 2 years old. He was taken care by his uncle. When his uncle died in some accident, he was taken care by a 16 year old American girl named Jack Starbright. His father and his uncle both used to work for the same agency. MI6 took away Alex from his school and gave a fake medical report about him getting measles. MI6 never gave any salary or something to Alex for saving the world.

In the first mission he had to stop stormbreakers from coming into the market which were computers containing viruses, in the second mission he had to save teens belonging to the rich families from a evil school point blanc, in the third mission he had to save the entire Russia from nuclear explosion, in the fourth mission he had to stop killing of 1/10 of the world's populations just to stop production of drugs in the world, in the fifth mission he had to fight against Scorpia a corruption agency, in the sixth mission he had to stop some people from destroying the space odyssey, in the seventh mission he was sent to Thailand to stop some robbers from looting the countries and finally in the eighth mission he had to save the world from GM's technology which can increase the poison of any thing.

Anthony Horowitz is damn clever. In his book "Crocodile Tears" he tried to add some more suspense by adding a journalist who will blackmail Alex to give his information about all the superhero stuff. But afterwards when he goes to MI6 for help, they give him one more work to finish and Alex makes a deal with them that if he finishes the task they will take care of the journalist.

The thing which I like in books of Anthony Horowitz is that - every page is full of suspense and all the characters are small James bond. He is the one who can make a kid get the habit of reading books.

Advantages And Disadvantages of Homeschooling.

Nowadays parents are choosing different ways of teaching. Among them homeschooling is on top.
What is Homeschooling?. Homeschooling is a kind of studies which takes place inside a house through projects and extra-curricular activities.

People don't like sending their kids to schools as their kids complain about their teacher being harsh to them. Teachers lose their temper and hit children but now hitting kids is banned. Teachers are fired from their posts just because they hit some kids. Parents are depending upon homeschooling , so that they can get to know about the kid's doubt and problems . Thing is that parents can spend more time with their kids also. One more advantage of homeschooling is that the parents can concentrate on one or two children whereas in a class a teacher is taking care of all children. Parents are also enthusiastic in helping their kids in their doubts. One more thing I like about homeschooling is that the studies are done through projects and practicals.

As you know every good thing has a disadvantage so as this.

As you know that in a class there are at least 10-20 kids. Some or all of them are friends with each other . But in homeschooling there in no one to talk or no one new. The kid does not make any new friend and that means his or her communicating skills wont improve. One more disadvantage of homeschooling is that - it is done for classes of L-kg ,U-kg ,1 ,2 and 3. After this the kid has to join school for further more studies and will have problems in communicating and to follow the pattern of studies.

So I think that homeschooling is only good for smaller classes like L-KG and U-KG only. After that you have to put your kid into a school to develop complicated and new things.

Understanding The World Of Google Websites

When you reach high standards, the subjects you should know are English, Social Science, Maths, Science etc . Google helps you in improving these subjects also .

What is Google? Google is nothing but a search engine which helps you find anything from your studies, business or nature. There are so many Google websites which help you in different things.

Google maps let people get the directions for places. Google translate helps people convert one language to another. Google images helps you see and download picture of anything you want. Youtube gives you a video for everything. Google scholar helps a school student in his/her studies. Wikipedia gives you a article of information about the word you have searched.

Reasons why we Google maps are - it gives you directions to go to a place where you have never been to. In case of Google translate, suppose you find a article anywhere on internet written in Spanish and you can't understand it just use Google translate to convert it to any language you want. Now in case of Google images suppose you got a project to stick five images of Moon in your notebook. You can just go to Google images and find them. Now youtube is a website which gives you the related videos of the given or searched word. You can watch videos of highlighted matches and other videos on youtube. Now Google scholar is a website which helps the school students in their studies by giving them solutions and information about their problems. Wikipedia is one of the most popular websites which help you in giving a lot of information about the given word.

I would like to know how other people make use of Google websites.
